MissWrite Christmas Party 2015 - Kirstenbosch Gardens
MissWrite Experience 2015 - Theme: Life Skills
Sikelelwa Ndaliso – the Facilitator
I can’t believe another 10 weeks have passed, with the MissWriters. It has been a great experience with the girls as always, even though it was different from the poems and short stories they did last year. Not only was I teaching the lessons to them, but I have also learnt from the sessions I was facilitating, such as time management and conflict resolution, these are lessons which I can apply on my life on daily basis. There are never dull moments with the girls and they are so close to my heart. It is rewarding to see the girls learning new things every week and seeing them develop their knowledge. They enjoyed the sessions when they had to act, as they are drama queens themselves. Thank you Kerry for making these sessions possible, and trusting me to run them for you.
During these past few weeks in the MissWrite programme, I have learnt the ways we as teenagers react to certain conflicts and how we should act around people. I have also learnt to write dialogues and how to solve conflicts. I love MissWrite because it has taught me a lot of things and I would like MissWrite to continue. These sessions have had a positive impact in my life, and how I should react to situations that I face in my life. I thank Kerry for creating MissWrite, I also thank all the sponsors of MissWrite, and Sikelelwa for facilitating the sessions.
I love the MissWrite Programmes because I have learnt a lot of things, such as being proud of myself, thinking about my future and how to be assertive when dealing with situations that I face. I would love to have more sessions because I get to be myself when I am with the other MissWriters and Sikelelwa. I would like to thank Kerry for everything you have done for us.
I have learnt to be pro-active, and I have also learnt to deal with peer pressure, I have learnt to set goals and try my best to follow my goals. I enjoyed it mostly when we were doing the drama and the debates. I have really learnt a lot and I would love to still learn more.
I have learnt how to set and achieve my goals, how to be pro-active and assertive not to be aggressive. I have also learnt to express myself and not hurt the feelings of others. MissWrite has changed my life for the better; I have become a better person. It helps us to stay away from doing bad things on Friday afternoons. I would like to learn more about science next time on MissWrite. Next time I will make sure I attend every session, and respect Sikelelwa.
I learnt how to be confident about myself, respecting myself my peers also. I have learnt how set goals for myself and trying my best to achieve them. I have learnt to manage time and use it wisely. I have learnt things that I don’t learn at school. I have learnt to be my best and not let people pull me down.
From the MissWrite sessions I have learnt how to take care of myself and be a better person in life. I have learnt how to spell new words and also learnt new definitions. I can even set goals for myself and be assertive when dealing with a difficult situation. I am able to express how I feel without hurting the feelings of others.
I have learnt that I shouldn’t be rude to other people and I must not be aggressive when dealing with challenges. I have learnt to respect others either older or younger than me. I have learnt to manage my time effectively and plan before. I enjoyed each and every session I attended. I would like to give a special thanks to Sikelelwa, and I would love to have more sessions. Thank you also to Kerry for bringing the programmes to us.
